Management Accountant

London / Hybrid £40k - £45k Permanent

The role...

The Management Accountant will play a pivotal role in the finance department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and performance analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in financial management and preferably some past experience within the travel industry.

Key responsibilities...

• Daily financial tasks: Handling day-to-day matter such as: authorisation and processing of payments, processing client money receipts, bank and credit card reconciliations etc.

• Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly KPI reports and quarterly VAT returns & management accounts for senior management, along with year end accounts to be audited.

• Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop, monitor, and update budgets and forecasts in collaboration with departmental heads.

• Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities.

• Foreign exchange: Manage the company's foreign exchange transactions, ensuring optimal rates and mitigating currency risk.

• Payroll Management: Oversee the payroll process (handled by a third party), ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees and compliance with relevant regulations.

• Reporting to CAA and ABTA: Prepare and submit accurate financial reports to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) as required.

• Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations.

• Audit and Compliance: Assist in external audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.

• Ad-hoc Analysis: Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as required by management.

Qualifications...

• Education: ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualifications required.

Skills...

• 3+ years of experience in management accounting, preferably within the travel or hospitality industry.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in financial software, and ability to learn a new accounting system (Travcom & Innact).

• Advanced Excel skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Salary: £40k -£45k

Hybrid format: 3/2 split with added requirements during onboarding
